Lucas sings his first full operatic role as a baritone in April! He is thrilled to join Teatro Grattacielo's production of DON GIOVANNI as Masetto in Syros, Greece. In May, Lucas creates new roles with the American Opera Project and NYU / Tisch OPERA LAB  and in June he celebrates PRIDE with a new commission by Rossa Crean & Bea Goodwin with ChamberQUEER at National Sawdust. He will perform Leporello in DON GIOVANNI with Vienna Summer Music Festival in July and sing Hannah-before in Laura Kaminsky, Mark Campbell and Kimberly Reed's AS ONE in September with Opera Steamboat.

In the 2019 season he made his Lincoln Center debut with New York City Opera as Sarah in the World Premiere of Stonewall and performed Hannah-after in AS ONE with Alamo City Opera and again at Alchemical Studios in NYC. Lucas realized that he was transgender in 2017 and came out publicly in 2018, singing Tristan Tzara in TABULA RASA: a role written for him to celebrate his authentic self with music by Felix Jarrar and a libretto by Bea Goodwin. His voice has been described as a “silky mezzo” (New York Times), a “shimmering alto” (Observer), and an “impressive firmly-grounded contralto” (Opera News) and he has performed mezzo roles ranging from Lucretia to Carmen to Komponist to Cherubino.

In 2020 Lucas began his physical and vocal transition with testosterone during the COVID pandemic. He made his debut as a baritone with On Site Opera singing 'Perfect Boy' from Laura Kaminsky, Mark Campbell and Kimberly Reed's AS ONE at the Little Island Festival in August 2021. He continued to strengthen his voice and musicality in the ensembles of  New Amsterdam Opera’s I VESPRI SICILIANI and in Opera Theater of CT’s BARBER OF SEVILLE. In February 2022 Lucas covered Nathaniel Sullivan for a concert of new music with Contemporaneous at Carnegie Hall. He continues his studies and role preparations with Vinceró Academy, learning Conte in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Schaunard in LA BOHEME and prepared Masetto in DON GIOVANNI with Bardi International Vocal Academy. He studies voice with teachers Katherine Ciesinski and Michael Chioldi.
